There's a spotlight shining on the aggregate, paving, and
construction industries at an exciting new exhibit hall at the Smithsonian Institution in
Washington, D.C."The Rocks Gallery," which opened at the
National Museum of Natural History in November, is giving visitors a new appreciation for
and an understanding of the importance of aggregates and aggregate products such as Hot
Mix Asphalt to everyday life.
A focal point of the Gallery is an interactive display, "Rocks Build
Cities," which explores how aggregates are used not only in our building and roads,
but also in manufacturing applications as diverse as glass and computers.
The Gallery, which is supported by the National Stone Association and the Rocks
Build America Foundation, takes full advantage of its large window looking out at the
National Gallery of Art and the Capitol.
